Nasty, Bad, Naughty Boy
Leno aired this clip last night and it got the requisite chuckles without even the need for a punchline. Senator Craig is certainly looking like a nasty, bad, naughty boy right now, and serves him right for sitting in judgment over another who may be nasty, bad, and naughty, but was at least doing it in the relative privacy of his office. But the irony that struck me about the clip was not that a man suspected of indecency was condemning it in another. The main irony that struck me was that in 1999 they were talking about censuring and impeaching a sitting president simply for being a nasty, bad, naughty boy. Oh, for those simpler days when the worst thing a president did was get a quickie from an intern in a windowless corridor! How can we now stand by when our current nasty, bad, naughty boy has sent thousands of Americans to their deaths in a war with no apparent purpose other than to further destabilize an already unstable part of the world?
